So i'm a little behind.. sorry guys..
Well i am excited to say i'm back in Texas for a short while! Seriously my true east texan accent takes me by surprise sometimes and i look around and say "WHO said that??" But to catch up... while the last few weeks in Virginia went really well - it flew by! The last saturday we were there, a
group of 12 of us girls spent the day in Washington DC just sightseeing and enjoying our much needed time off. We of course made a quick run through of the essentials: the Capital, the mall, washington monument, Vietnam memorial, WW2 memorial, and the Lincoln memorial...Then we waved hello to George and Laura as we passed their house...
After lunch we ventured off to Ford's Theatre where we chatted with a very friendly and knowledgeable historian. If you go below the theatre you can see all the artifacts and history behind it - it was so interesting! We of course threw in some shopping at Urban outfitters and ann taylor loft.
Then we split up - some went to the spy museum while the rest went to the national art gallery, modern art exhibit, and the American history museum. I was in heaven!! We passed this sculpture garden that had an ice skating rink in the middle...it was very "romantic comedy-esque. " Unfortunately we were very limited on time so we could only see so much... We pretty much had to run through the gallery - but i saw some pieces by Pissaro, Monet, Degas, and Renoir. But the greatest part was walking into the modern art building and wandering downstairs to a room full of Mark Rothko - i was ecstatic! We met up with everyone for a quick dinner then headed back. It was a wonderful day!!
